My childhood pets (not counting Sam the goldfish) were two bunnies, named Smoky and Floppy. My siblings and I spent hours playing with them, feeding them, and brushing their soft fur. Smoky and Floppy would even cuddle up in our laps, the way a puppy or cat might - that was love.

If you have a pet, then you know how integral they become to your lives. They become like family. And what is a family but those you care about and look out for?
Natural and organic pet products were not even a pipedream when we had Smoky and Floppy, but now they are a way of life. Did you know that many ingredients deemed unfit for human consumption are allowed in regular pet products? Many manufacturers try to get away with as much as they can with regard to pets – after all, they are only animals. Just three years ago, the FDA issued a major pet food recall when many products on the market were found to contain wheat gluten tainted with melamine. But it’s not just in the area of food where manufacturers fall short. Many of the synthetic ingredients used in pet toys, cleaning products, supplements and more cause a lot of damage to the environment – and that is bad for us and for the pets we love. Abe’s Market only sells natural pet products, free of harmful, synthetic ingredients. So next time you knick knack patty whack, give a dog a bone, make it an organic one.
