Scientific studies have shown that prolonged use of over-the-counter eczema treatments such as corticosteroids (hydrocortisone ring a bell?) can be significantly absorbed into our bodies and lead to skin infections, glaucoma, adrenal dysfunction, and certain cancers. Your favorite eczema moisturizers may also contain poisonous parabens (now banned in Japan and Sweden) which can disrupt hormones and lead to lymphoma as well as breast cancer. Shockingly enough, these same parabens have also been shown to cause eczema! Wrap your noggin around that one.
