My dream was to become a fashion designer...work for Ralph Lauren. Some would say that I came very close to fulfilling my dream. Okay, maybe 3 to 5 year old girls would say I was living my dream. I was working with BARBIE, ARIEL, SNOW WHITE and all the other cast of characters in the Toy World. After 16 years in the Toy Industry I was completely taken by surprise...I was going to have my very own "toy tester".

Eight months later (not an easy journey) my son was born. He was small at first but I knew he was a survivor. He had proven that to me the first 8 months we were together. My son was 4 lbs 11 oz when he finally came home from the hospital. It is amazing how aware you become of anything that comes into this little child's world. We had received dozens of soft cuddly blankets as gifts before and after my son was born. One day my son had developed a bad rash. I did everything I could to try to comfort him. I finally took off his diaper and wrapped him in the softest blanket I could find. About 10 minutes later his rash had gotten even worse. He was completely sweating! He didn't have a fever, why was he so hot!?!? I looked at the content tag on his blanket...there was some fancy name for a fiber content I had never heard of. Later to find out it was this company's own name they created for what the rest of us know as POLYESTER! Of course my son was overheating! Polyester is plastic it doesn't breathe. Why in the world would someone make a baby blanket out of polyester.

This is when my mission began. I gave up my executive job in the "Toy World" and began my mission to design a baby blanket that was 100% natural fibers. I did some research and found out that India is known for their high quality hand woven blankets and they use only natural fibers. I made some contacts in India (I had never been to India), bought a plane ticket and flew to India to start working on what is now known as SHI SHU BABY.
