Valley Green Naturals started from a soap-making hobby and quickly grew into a successful business! Our products now reach retail and direct sale customers around the world. We incorporated the Valley Green Naturals as an LLC in 2009 and have grown our management team to include two additional partners, Mary Roth Hill and Douglas Hill. Beginning in 2011, Valley Green Naturals will file as a Sub-chapter S corporation and will partner with Roth-Hill, Inc.

Our company is named after the property on which we live. Our home, The Valley Green House, was built in 1743, long before the Revolutionary War when Virginia was a British colony. (And, in case you're wondering, yes... we do have ghosts!)

With regard to our business, our goal is simple: we want to produce products that are effective, fragrant and safe for ourselves and our family. And we wish to share our products and educate others about the importance of product ingredients and safety.

We firmly believe that smaller-scale production ensures excellent product quality and freshness. We blend every bottled product not more than 32 ounces at a time, and we hand-mix and pour our soaps not more than two pounds at a time. This ensures complete control and accuracy of the ingredients, heating processes, and packaging. Additionally, we deal with only a few wholesale suppliers for our oils, fragrances, packaging and other supplies to ensure consistency of quality and products with only the finest and safest ingredients.

All of the products that we make at Valley Green Naturals are natural and free of sulfates, phthalates, parabens, wetting agents, foaming boosters and other hazardous chemicals.

At Valley Green Naturals, we will never abuse the terms, "natural" or "organic." Although we use many certified organic ingredients in our products, we will never label a finished product as certified unless it has been approved by the USDA.

We take great pleasure in the planning and challenge that go into creating our own products. Art's professional background is in network security in and around the Washington, D.C. area. Cindy's background is in political communications, marketing and management. She worked for a national political party, served on the staff of a U.S. Senator, and produced a television program in Washington, D.C. until shortly after the 9/11 tragedy. Eventually, we decided to sell our home near D.C. and move west toward the mountains. It was here where Valley Green Naturals got its start.

Fortunately, we have a nice respite at Valley Green. We have eight acres on which to grow our own herbs and vegetables and raise our chickens, and we're surrounded by neighboring horse farms and a lovely vineyard. Our beautiful surroundings help to inspire our personal care products and body nourishing creations.
