The quickest path to a dog's heart is through a COOKIEEEE! The word itself holds magical powers to bribe our dogs into doing most anything. Here is a fun recipe and great gift idea for the dog lover in your life (even if that person happens to be you).

Doggy Holiday Fortune Cookie Recipes

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400° and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper, lightly grease the paper. In a bowl, whisk your egg whites by hand for about one minute, until they become nice and frothy. Add in your remaining ingredients and whisk for 30 seconds or until smoothly combined.
  2. Scoop one tablespoon of batter onto the cookie sheet and spread thinly in a 4-inch diameter circle. Do one more circle of batter. Do not do more than two batter circles, because you need to move fast to fold the cookies into shape (unless you have someone helping).
  3. Pop into the oven for 6-7 minutes, until the edges get nice and crisp. Now this is where you need to plan in advance, set aside a muffin tin (where the cookies will rest after shaped to cool) and put on mini mitts, which will help to protect your hands from the extremely hot cookie.
  4. Once the cookies are done, you literally have 10 seconds per cookie to fold before they start to harden.  First start by placing the fortune in the middle, folding the cookie circle in half, then fold the other way around your finger to create a fortune cookie shape. Once the cookie has been shaped, set in the muffin tin to cool. Repeat process until you do not have any remaining batter left. Makes approximately 6 cookies.

The real fun part of this process is creating your own doggy fortunes. Here are a few to get you started:

  • Be cautious of what tree you bark up.
  • Tomorrow you will finally catch your tail.
  • Something you have buried will turn up soon.
  • Life is like a leash, the longer the better.

Toss fortune cookies in a reusable snack bag and you have a great gift for your favorite person and their pooch.
