Get a Hi-Fiber Hemp Boost: Green Tea Protein Smoothie Recipe

By:  Ari  Bendersky  Abe's Market Contributor  July 28th, 2013

Start your day out right — or give yourself a power-packed protein boost after a hard workout — with this high-fiber hemp protein green tea smoothie recipe from our friends at Nutiva, a California-based seller of high-quality superfood products including coconut oil, hemp seeds, hemp protein and more.

This super-easy-to-make smoothie utilizes hemp protein and packs some serious punch with 90 percent insoluble high-fiber loaded with 37 percent protein, 43 percent fiber and 10 percent fat. It offers good doses of zinc, magnesium and iron — and the green tea is loaded with antioxidants. The coconut milk, while higher in fat (you can substitute light coconut milk or coconut water if you're really concerned), has fabulous benefits with a bevy of vitamins (C, E, B1, B3, B5, and B6), iron, selenium, calcium and more. And of course, you're getting potassium and fiber from the banana and honeydew, the latter which also offers up vitamin C.
