You know that classic song from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s South Pacific, “I’m gonna wash that man right outta my hair”? I guess it depends on the man in question, but most men would be preferable to the pesticides, carcinogens and toxic dyes found in many shampoos and conditioners.  (+)

      Natural and organic shampoos and conditioners will leave your hair just as lustrous and well-groomed as “traditional” shampoos and conditioners, only without the harmful side effects. In fact, without the ammonia, sodium lauryl sulfate, parabens, resorcinol and chemical fragrances allowed in hair products under federal law, natural and organic hair products will actually preserve your hair’s nutrients and keep it healthy and strong over time, unlike their harmful counterparts. In all fairness to Rodgers and Hammerstein, however, “I’m gonna wash that pesticide or carcinogen or toxic dye right outta my hair” isn’t quite as catchy. And it is hard to find a rhyme for carcinogen. We’ve tried.  (-)
